Paxakama Resorts receives approval to build 4-star hotel in Polis Chrysochous


The Cyprus Department of Environment has approved the construction and operation of a four-star hotel in the Polis Chrysochous area of Cyprus.


The hotel will be built on the premises of the existing Akamanthea Holiday Village. The hotel will have 325 rooms, fitness areas, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, and 140 private parking spaces.


The 4-storey hotel will cover an area of 9,000 sqm and will include a wastewater treatment plant.


The Cyprus Department of Environment has set the following conditions for the hotel’s operation:


  • Waste (liquids, solid households, etc.) which may result from the operation of the project should be reused/ recycled to the greatest extent possible.

  • Correct waste separation at the source (ISP), as far waste streams from glass, paper/ cardboard, PMD, bio-waste (food waste, green) are concerned.

  • Hotel staff should receive appropriate education/ training in order to achieve high quality recyclable and organic waste.

  • The installation of waste compactors and the disposal of waste containers should be implemented following consultation with the health division of the Paphos Municipality.

  • Edible oils / fats and fats should be disposed of in licensed collectors in accordance with the waste laws of 2011-2016.

  • Machines that cause a high level of noise (eg generators, compressors, etc.) should be enclosed and insulated if needed, or have suitable sound insulation covers.

  • Regarding the cooling and air conditioning systems that will be on site, the owner is obliged to comply with the provisions of the law.
