Cyprus Seeds open for applications to 31 October 2024



Cyprus Seeds, a non-profit organization dedicated to commercializing research in Cyprus, offers a unique opportunity to academic teams from private or public research organizations to receive funding. All applications must be submitted by 31st of October 2024.


To apply for the Cyprus Seeds program, follow the requirements:

  1. Make sure you meet the Terms and Conditions of Cyprus Seeds.

  2. Register on the Babele Platform by clicking here.

  3. Fill out and submit your application on the platform after registration.


Key dates for the 4th call of applications:

  • Application deadline: October 31, 2024

  • Interview notifications for qualified teams: Early January 2025

  • Interview with qualified teams: Mid-January 2025

  • Grantee announcement: End of January 2025

  • Program start: February 2025


All applicants will be judged by the following criteria:

  • Academic research teams must be based in Cyprus, affiliated with a university, center of excellence or research organization.

  • Projects from any industry sector or technological field are eligible. Priority will be given to those projects that address climate change and environmental protection.

  • The team must submit the Invention Disclosure Form (IDF) to the Technology Transfer/Innovation Office of their hosting institution for review.

  • Teams must include Principal Investigator and a Champion.

  • The Principal Investigator must formally acknowledge the intellectual property and spin-off policies of Cyprus Seeds.


Priority will be given to the teams that have applied to receive the services from the Central Knowledge Transfer Office of the Research and Innovation Foundation, and those projects who receive co-funding from the Hosting Institution.


All participating teams will be evaluated based on market need/fit, commercialization strategy, project team, scientific merit, and global economic, environmental, and social impact potential.


Selected applications will be reviewed by a minimum of two non-Cyprus-based evaluators. Qualified teams will be interviewed by a committee of international experts, and will be requested to provide pitch decks before the interview.
